This term we have been working on a country on Google Earth. The country I picked was Indonesia, I picked Indonesia because I don´t know a lot about the country.
Kia ora, I am a student at Marshland School, Welcome - Haere Mai. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note my work may include spelling or other errors because some of it will be my first drafts. I would like to get your feedback - comments, thoughts, questions and ideas to help me Learn Create Share.

The Big bad wolf?
In Yellowstone the Wolves regenerated the land and had stabled the river banks and stopped the elk from eating too much of the grass and wolves had a positive affect on the envirnment when they got reintroduced.
In france, the wolves were demons to the citizens. The wolves kill livestock which made the farmers angry. The government gave the hunters a lot of money to kill the wolves.
I think that the wolves are awesome because they are helping many animals come back to the environment and making the environment greener and lively.

Oil Accidents
il is in and around our world, even in places you wouldn’t imagine. We use oil for cooking but we also use crude oil. The pumping and transporting of crude oil around the globe often have environmental effects. We have looked at various texts and videos to learn about some of these effects, and it ‘good’ timing as there was a recent oil spill (24 July 2020) in Mauritius that we could investigate.
Check out my video to learn more about oil, and see the simulation we did in class about cleaning oil from water.
Do you know how oil is made

Engineers making parachutes
Today we made parachutes and the key was to make the parachute go the slowest.
In our group were Jack, oliie and me. We f airdecided to make a parachute out of newspaper because it's light and it can hold a lot
of air. we made our parachute big so it can go slower.

Southern lights
Do you know what the southern lights are?
The southern lights are a colours which appear in the arctic and the Antarctica regions.
Another name for southern lights is aurora. The way aurora starts is that the sun shoots out tiny particles which go towards the earth because of the magnitude atmosphere and the tiny particles try to get in, some of the particles get in and mix with the oxygen and the colours are created making the beautiful sight.

Binary/Ascii
Binary/ASCII Blog Post Sample
Today we are learning about Binary and ASCII.
Binary is a number system that uses 1’s and 0’s to represent all of our normal set of numbers. You can use the place values as multiples of 2 to work out how to do it for yourself!
ASCII is a set of encoded symbols that a computer uses to turn Binary into letters and other symbols from the English language (like what is on our keyboard). I turned my initials into binary numbers, and then turned those binary numbers into an ASCII code! Using colours to represent the 1’s and 0’s, my initials in ASCII can be represented by the pattern you see in my image below!
What do you think? Have you ever tried encoding anything in binary or ASCII? Could you have a try for yourself? Can you work out how to write my initials in ASCII from the pattern above?

Angles
In maths, we have been doing angles. We have been learning how to measure angles and how to name them. Do you know all of the types of angles? If an angle is lower than 90 degrees it is an acute angle, if the angle is 90 degrees it is a right angle, if an angle is higher than 90 degrees it is an obtuse angle, if it is 180 degrees it will be a line and like how Mr Shaw says it if it is a flexible angle it is a reflex angle
Accidental Glory
This week we have been doing fairy tales. The teachers gave us a story and gave some questions about the story. When we answered it, we had to answer it in full sentences.

Amazing Adobe spark
Kia ora bloggers,
This week for literacy we have been learning about inferencing and show not tell. When we read something, we automatically start making inferences, so it is important when we write that we give clues in our writing that allow people to make inferences. We want to show them - not tell them.
For example Paul was frustrated when he got to the bus stop and realised he had just missed the bus. But instead I could write “Running as fast as he could, Paul turned the corner only to see the back of the bus as it pulled away. Throwing his bag down on the ground and sighing out loud, Paul realised that he had no choice, but to sit and wait for the next bus to arrive - 20 minutes from now” You can infer from me saying ‘throwing his bag down and sighing out loud’ that he is frustrated.
Our task was to create a video that accompanied a piece of writing about an elderly man. We used Adobe Spark to do this.
Have a look at my video and see if you can you make some inferences about what I have written.
Do you think the elderly man is happy?

week 1 maths 3D shapes
Hi bloggers
This week's we have been making shapes in 3D with the help of isometric
paper. At the start, I was confused but after drawing some cubes I realised that it was just a matter of what angle the cube was in.
isometric paper allows you to draw 3D shapes, the isometric paper has dots so you just have to draw lines to link the dots. See you next week, bye

Hairy Giants
Kia ora Bloggers,
This week we have been looking carefully at making inferences when we read or watch something.
An inference is when we take clues from a text or image, and
add them to our thoughts or prior knowledge and make an inference.
For example, when I look at this photo, I might make the inference that this photo was taken in a food factory as everyone is wearing hair nets and this is required in all food factories. The text that we read a snippet out of was ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl. Once we had read the first few chapters where they described the main characters, Mr and Mrs Twit, we then had to make some inferences based on the clues that Roald Dahl had given in the text.
I used Google Draw to create a display of my inferences I have made about Mr and Mrs Twit.
Have you read The Twits before? Do you agree with my inferences? What inferences would you make about the characters? See you next time!

Hi bloggers
It's crazy with covid 19 everywhere and lock down for 4 weeks, will it ever end?
It's boring being at home everyday, I would rather go to school than this.
If I had the Corona virus I would spread it to everyone, I don't no why but I would.
What are you doing? Are you having fun?

perfect portrait
HI bloggers the teachers made everyone make portraits of themselves, that's a dumb isn't it. We looked at some of Romeo Britto's colourful pictures. Romeo's portraits are colourful and weird.
Sorry I did not finished it in school but I will finish it at home and post it on the blog
my photo has me, of course and it also has my favourite team called Man United and a has where my family is from Nepal and my favourite things like, sports
I didn't organise my portrait to well and lead to my portrait being very messy.
